NYX Epic Wear Eye & Body liquid liner

August 1, 2020

As you may know I have been looking for a new long wear liquid eyeliner; to replace my much loved CYO This Lines a Keeper – which sadly has been discontinued…

Buying a new eye liner is always a bit of a punt for me as I suffer from makeup melt down.  My mascara and liner always seem tends to fade, smudge slide – basically not stay put.

It’s annoying, my eyes are small, they need lining otherwise they disappear so I always buy long wear liner but also take care with my application – as it can be all about the base.

NYX Epic Wear

The hype sounds good:

Waterproof eye and body liquid liner. ‘Next level intensity… waterproof, smudge proof… festival-ready looks… dramatic graphic eye…’

All well and good but I am only really interested in using it as an eye liner that looks as good at the end of the day as when I applied it. Not too much to ask?

I liked the price, £6.25 (on offer at Boots) – so I went ahead and purchased it for click and collect.

First Impressions

It is black and really easy to apply, the brush is fine and the handle long so no issues at all getting the look I was after.

It also dries fast and is a nice true back, matt not shiny –  when freshly applied I liked it.

I am only planning to use this on my eyes but I also drew a line on my hand to test the body wear aspect.

First Impressions – don’t always last

I really put this to the test for the first application as I just applied it direct to my upper lids, no base layer.  Three hours post application my eye liner melt down had started – it looked dreadful, grey mucky, yuk.

Next day I tried again and gave it a helping hand.  I applied foundation to my lids set with my Marc Jacobs Coconut Finishing Powder (£32) and then my go to eyeshadow of the moment Charlotte Tilbury Eyes to Mesmerise Cream Eyeshadow (£22) in rose gold.

Three hours later better, not smudged, still there but still starting to fade and the end flicks almost disappeared – my opinion NOT Epic but OK.

To conclude: This isn’t going in the bin, but it isn perfect, I would give it 7 out of 10.

(PS – The tester on my hand? – pristine after 12 hours!)
