Long wear Mascara & Liner (and how to get it off)*

May 5, 2020

All my makeup wearing life I have suffered from a greasy eye area – which can result in smudges, smears and streaks ?

So many products have come into my life offering promises of zero smudges, 24 hour wear, sweat proof, tear proof, water proof etc but to no avail.  One use and more often than not they are binned – I hate to think how much money I have wasted…

To this day (and I’m 52 so that is 35+ years of wearing makeup) I have only ever found two mascara’s that did not shift.

One was a tubing mascara by blinc rrp £22 and the other Estee Lauder Double Wear  rrp £24  – the one with the gold top.

I stopped using the tubing one as whilst it didn’t smudge I used to find it had a tendency (albeit after a good few hours) to flake off.  Also I didn’t like having to use warm water to remove – I have always preferred to take my eye make up off in bed.

So today I only every wear and buy and buy again Estee Lauder Double Wear, as I stated the one with the Gold top (the Blue top version, which is waterproof smudges on me?). I have learnt to no longer be tempted in by the promises of others; goodness knows what I will do if they discontinue it..

Liquid Liner

The other product I really rate for zero smudges (once it has dried) is CYO This Line’s a Keeper semi-permanament eyeliner.  This is an absolute bargain at £5.00 and it really really holds

Crowes Cremine

The pay back of heavy/long wear eye makeup is it can be difficult to shift.  And what you don’t want to be doing is rubbing away at your eyes to remove your makeup. It’s not only a chore but the skin here is so delicate you could be doing more harm than good.

Cremine just m-e-l-t-s your makeup away.  It is the BEST eye make-up remover I have found and makes light work of mascara and liner.  Plus it is also great value – a whopping 200ml tub  is only around the £9 mark.

INGREDIENTS : Paraffinum Liquidum, Aqua, Paraffin, Cera Microcristallina, Stearic Acid, Cera Alba, Petrolatum, Sodium Borate, Propylparaben, Citronellol, Geranium Maculatum, Geroniol, Linalool, Citral, Limonene

It does have a greasy texture (I have seen this referred to as grease paint) but it will literally melt your makeup away.  I do tend to follow up with a regular eye make up remover just to take away the slightly  greasy residue.

I haven’t seen it on the High Street for years so buy mine online  at the likes of Amazon and  Victoria Health .  In fact I’ve just bought another tub which will last me at least a year!

If you love your long stay make up you need to check this out.

PS : I still have a greasy eye area which whilst it was a bane in my younger smudgier years  I am grateful for now.  As whilst I do have lines round my eyes – they aren’t too bad – every cloud!
