3 months to Go
I have just put Tray 31 in, and that’s Tray 31 of 43, so I have 12 trays left!
When I committed to Invisalign, I started off with 43 trays and instructions to change trays every 2 weeks. That equated to 86 weeks, which is 19 months, a year and a half, whichever way you say it it is a fair amount of time…
Luckily for me things changed and I was allowed to speed things up and go for a weekly tray change, which means here I am with just 3 months left 🙂
Whilst I am getting excited that the end is coming, it has, so far, been a breeze. If I was still looking at a 2019 finish it wouldn’t be all doom and gloom.
This is how I do it
Some trays have been harder to put in than others, but I haven’t yet had one I haven’t been able to fit.
The general advice is to put new trays in last thing at night which I used to do. However as my night time routine is pretty lengthy, I now put my new tray in after dinner.
It can sometimes take a while to get a new tray in, plus once fitted you need to use a chewie to really get it into place. If I am being rushed (i.e. “Turn off the light Emily”), I find it harder to do.
Fortunately getting trays in after the first time has never been a problem.
I use my thumb and index finger on my left hand to get trays in and out (I’m right handed). My nails have suffered a bit, my orthodontist did give me an aligner tool, but I just couldn’t get on with it.
Notes to self
Each and every tray comes in a numbered packet, and there is a notes box on the packet that is begging to be written in.
My trays came in 4 boxes and at the end of each box I write myself little notes on each of the new packets as I line them up ready to go in!
The notes can be anything from a reminder, a countdown or a motivational quote from me to me…
Previous notes I have written have been:
- Are you back at the Gym?
- You’re in Spain!
- Buy some SPF 50
- What’s your weight?
- Did you remember to fix the skirting?
They can be and often are a bit random, I often think ‘what were you thinking about ?’, but it makes Monday change over day a bit more fun and not just another week nearer my goal.
