Is it over yet? Winter that is – or more specifically cold and flu season?
On the whole I don’t get as many colds as I used to when I was younger, I am sure my immunity has built up over the years.
But, even though I have had my share of bugs and viruses I really don’t want anymore.
Plus why is that when we get ill it always seems to be at the worse possible time?
I am now back from a holiday to Florida and the last thing I wanted was to get the office cold on my holiday as I had a special event planned…
So I was really pleased to be asked if I would like to try some Sambucol Black Elderberry supplements specifically aimed at supporting my immune system to keep me strong. These formed part of my holiday prep!
Sambucol Immuno Forte
This is a really tasty syrup (£9.99) and the suggested dose for adults is 2 teaspoons a days.
The main ingredient is black elderberry which I have never tasted before. Good news – it tastes really nice, it is quite sweet (and does contain sugar).
On reading the label it says it is OK for children over 3 – and I am sure that any child would happily take this ‘medicine’.
If you don’t fancy taking the liquid Sambucol (maybe you want to avoid the sugar?). Sambucol offer plenty of alternatives including easy to swallow (tasteless) capsules (£13.99).
These would be great for holidays and as a stand by in the your medicine cabinet for times when you feel you need some extra help.
Why take Sambucol?
Sambucol is not a medicine or a drug. It is a food supplement aimed at supporting your immune system to keep you well.
Made from black elderberries and also containing Vitamin C it is packed with antioxidants. Antioxidants are your mates as they help to mop up free radicals.
What are free radicals? They’re atoms that can damage your cells, which in turn can cause you to be ill and on a beauty note can speed up the ageing process.
Pre holiday I took the liquid with a few drops of Vitamin D as it is currently winter and even if the sun is shining I am slathered in sun block.
Did you know that UK guidelines now recommend that adults should consider taking a Vitamin D supplement during Autumn and Winter? – you can read more at www.nhs.uk
Back from the Florida sunshine and to get over the jet lag I am taking it again.
You can buy Sambucol in the UK online or easily on the High Street at Boots, Superdrug, Tesco etc.
Whilst in America and browsing the foreign pharmacies (my kind of holiday shopping) I spotted Sambucol at Walgreens and CVS.
Sambucol do a whole range of products and have a great comparison page.
As I said before they do a sugar free liquid and the majority of their products are vegetarian and some are vegan – you can check out the details here.
And finally ‘Yes’ in answer to your question… did the prevention work?
I didn’t get ill pre or post holiday, had a wonderful time and managed to swim with this little chap..
*the Sambocul in this post was gifted, I had to leave the manatee behind..😶
