Booty Balm – it’s a similar name to my much loved Sol de Janerio Bum Bum Cream. And if like me you are a fan you will know that it isn’t the easiest product to get hold of in the UK.
With still no sign of Sephora coming back to the UK I have previously had to purchase mine either online or on holiday.
If you have been curious but never had a chance to experience the Sol de Janerio fragrance this will give you a very good idea
All well and good for me seeing as I know that I love it! (read more on my love affair with it HERE )
However Good news! Space NK are now stocking Sol de Janerio so it could well be coming to a High Street near you.
Plus! Aldi have a very good dupe at a bargain price… ??
Booty Balm by Lacura
I purchased this at my local Aldi. It is currently sold out online and is classed as a Special Buy, which I think means a one off.
The Booty Balm I have is in an orange box and the tub body colour is orange too.
I see online that they also do another product called Body Power Cream (also sold out online). This one comes in a pink box with a hot pink tub, but my local store didn’t have any. ?
Booty Balm v Bum Bum Cream
Let’s compare!
Packaging
The packaging is very similar and the tubs look the same size.
What I don’t like is the square lid of the Lacura version – it just makes the tub a little less round and pat-able! However the Bum Bum Cream top does fit perfectly on the Booty Balm bottom!

I’ve got the wrong top on!
Booty Balm has a orange bottom, whilst Bum Bum is yellow.
Fragrance ?
The two products smell very very similar.
If you have been curious but never had a chance to experience the Sol de Janerio fragrance this will give you a very good idea. Booty Balm is not quite as pungent as Bum Bum Cream but I would struggle to tell them apart.
Colour
The colour of the cream is irrelevant really as once absorbed both products are colourless. However they are a similar colour.

Left Beauty Balm : Right Bum Bum Cream
Booty Balm is a slighly more lighter shade of butter cream as opposed to it’s Brazilian cousin.
Texture
A noticable difference here and Bum Bum Cream wins.
Bum Bum Cream is much denser and more butter like in texture – Booty Balm is quite thick though.
Firming Properties
Bum Bum Cream contains a lot of ingredients, they state the key ones re firming etc are:
- Guaraná
- Cupuaçu Butter
- Coconut Oil
- Açaí Oil
- Brazil Nut
- Guayus Leaf Extract
I have checked the Booty Balm ingredients list, it also contains all of the above however the quantities may differ.
Personally I have never noticed any firming effects of Bum Bum Cream. I don’t purchase it for that (I still swear by Elancyl for firming and ‘anti’ cellulite). I buy it as I adore the scent plus it is super duper at moisturising.
Price – the biggie
Booty Balm £6.99 for a 250ml. Bum Bum Cream rrp (Space NK July 2017) £44.00 (240ml).
A good dupe from Aldi/Lacura and a whopping £37 cheaper!
???
Overall I really like the Booty Balm and will use it. The fragrance as I said is really similar but it doesn’t linger as long plus I don’t like the texture as much; it doesn’t feel so luxurious, but it is pretty good.
If you have always wanted to see what the fuss is about I would say that at £6.99 this is a bargain. But be quick as I doubt it will stay on the shelves for long – so you better get a wiggle on!!
(neither product are tested on animals ?)
